Amesbury History Centre
Amesbury History Centre is well worth a visit if you are in the area and have a bit of spare time. Run by volunteers and free to enter (they have a donations box inside), the Amesbury Museum doesn’t look much from the outside, but once inside you will come across a wealth of local knowledge.
Amesbury is Britain’s oldest settlement and this small village hall is filled with marvellous artefacts and information boards. To get the most out of your visit however, we strongly recommend you stop for a cup of tea and talk to one of the helpful volunteers who work there. They really explain the history of the area and bring the subject to life through their extensive knowledge and access to photographic archives.
